We are extremely sad to be writing this but, we are having to postpone this event again.
The reason being, our founder got covid and it was quite a traumatic experience. Since then things have been full steam ahead but they've not had time to rest.
It has felt quite confusing about what the right thing to do is. In order to look after our mental health and to ensure this event is epic, the best decision we think is to postpone it until full recovery is reached.
Our founder also has a disability which is why they've been quite sensitive to the effects of the isolation period. As we are a mental health organisation - looking after our own mental health is really important.
Understanding Each Other is a social enterprise bringing awareness to mental health through clothing and meetups. Welcome to our first event!
This will be an evening celebrating our mental health with spoken word, a live music performance, DJ's and speeches.
PERFORMERS ANNOUNCEMENT COMING SOON!
Tickets are £19 to cover the cost of the venue and so we can pay all the performers and people working on the night their fees.
Eventbrite has a small processing fee.
With any profit, we are hoping to sell enough tickets to pay a black artist to do an intersectional racism awareness t-shirt and getting some stock. The rest goes into the running of Understanding Each Other.
We are proudly raising money for Black Minds Matter. 10% of each ticket sale will be given to the charity. We will also have donation boxes in the venue... So bringing cash is a fabulous idea but there are also ways to donate electronically.
You can get a ticket bundle, 6 tickets for £90 (£15 each).
We understand not everyone can afford to pay the full price. If you are on benefits or disabled, please email us for a discounted ticket for £7 - we will ask for evidence and we are committed to the importance of confidentiality.
Under 18's free entry but please email us as have to add them to the list.
Please bare in mind we are a small social enterprise and don't make much profit. However, we understand sometimes unforeseen circumstances occur. Please email us to request a refund. The 10% charity donation will be deducted from refunds if given and Eventbrite keep their fee.
On the night, please bring your Eventbrite PDF ticket on your phone (save the planet) and proof of identification. If someone else bought your ticket and you aren't with them, just email us in advance :).
Each ticket puts you in a random draw to win a merch bundle.
Cecil Sharp House has men's and women's toilets however, there are two disabled toilets which are also open as gender-neutral toilets :). The venue has disability access support but please contact us if you have any requirements and we can make sure this is sorted.
There is a bar and cafe downstairs with soft drinks, hot drinks, alcohol and food.
There will be the opportunity to buy our merch on the night - cash or card.
We would recommend using public transport where possible. The venue is well connected with the closest tube stations being Camden Town or Chalk Farm.
Please check the venue's website for further information about travelling by bus or car.
Fortunately, the venue is located near a popular area of London meaning there is plenty of accommodation in the area.
Type in the postcode on Booking.com where you can use filters to find the best option for you.
